    JJU Graduates 974 students for the third round

    Jigjiga University (JJU) colourfully Graduated 974 students in degree under regular and continues Education (CEP) Programs on July 2, 2011. It was an exception day for the 974 students who successfully attended their theoretical and practical classes under five faculties for three and four years in JJU. After citing the overall activities of the university, Dr. Abdinasir Ahmed,the university president, congratulates the graduated students and other stakeholders.     African Authors' Association Jaunts JJU

    A delegated group of ten African Authors' Association (AAA) led by representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Jig Jiga University (JJU) last week. The goal of the visit was to introduce the African authors to prospective authors and researchers of the university and to let the university community exploit experience from the visiting group so that it probably will create internal inspiration said Deputy Director of Ethiopian Authors' Association (EAA), Ato Dereje Gebre.     JJU shares experience for Hargeysa University

    JJU shares experience for a group of students from Hargessa university of Somaliland Thursday and Firday, May 19 & 20. Mr. Seid Mohamed Academic and Research vice president said that the university is of a great opportunity for it is in the center of pastoral and agro-pastoral society of Ethiopia where 49% of the regional populations are Pastoralists. Mr. Seid stressed that JJU has a sturdy need for the link with the institution. one of the visitors in his turn said "we need the experience share and strong linkage with JJU" Mr. Mohamed Abdi, representative of Hargeysa University Student union marked the activities and facilities of JJU as successful and stressed their need to learn many thing from the university.     Cross-Border Language Commission Work shop held in collaboration between Jigjiga University and ACALAN

    An operational workshop to launch and plan the activities of the Somali Vehicular Cross-Border Language Commission, for its three- years mandate was held in Jigjiga town, the capital city of Somali Regional State, Ethiopia from April 11-13. The workshop organized in collaboration between Academicians of African Language (ACALAN), Jigjiga University and Somali Regional State was a high level meeting attended by internationally accredited Somali experts from all over the world Professor Ayo Bamghose, Chair person of the assembly of ACALAN, Pro. Sozinho F. Matsinhe, Secretary of ACALAN, Dr. Abdinasir Ahmed, President of Jigjiga University, Dr. Sultan Wali, V/president of Somali Regional State, and many Somali scholars from Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Somali Land and western countries attended the work shop.     Jigjiga University graduated the first batch of students in continuing education program on feb-2011

    The university has graduated 65 students in the department of Management, 52 students in Accounting, 45 students in Economics and 28 students in Geography and Environmental Studies in Degree while 60 students were graduated in Diploma with the department of accounting. Among 217 graduates, 63 were Female and 154 were Male. Beside the graduated class, there are 2237 students in year one and year two in various disciplines in the continuing education program. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Abdinasir Ahmed, President of Jigjiga university, emphasized that the university's commitment of expanding quality education opportunity for all the community of Somali Region. He said "in its effort to reach all people, the university has completed preparation to expand its continuing education to nearby Woredas and Zones that include Awbare, Dagahbur, Kabribayah and Babile".
    

    JJU Commemorates 20th of Ginbot

    JJigjiga University (JJU) community celebrated Ginbot 20 discussing about the intellectuals’ role for the realization of the Growth and Transformation Plan and the Abay Dam construction, performing art night, staging photo exhibition, and conducting football matches for more than a week.
    Dr. Abdinasir Ahmed, president of Jigjiga University, said on a panel discussion, "Ginbot 20 is a day that streamed change, glittered democracy and good governance progress, assured nations' self-determination, and ultimately JJU is a fruit of this victory day." Read More>>
