School of Graduate Studies

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) was established in 2012 to produce highly skilled human power with the intention of fulfilling the needs of the Region and the country.

Initially, the SGS launched four postgraduate programs, namely; Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Public Health and Pastoral Economics and Development. After successful implementation of the above four programs, another four programs; Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development, Early Childhood Care and Education, Teaching English as Foreign Language, and Dry land Agronomy programs were added between 2015 and 2016.

The School has also formally completed all its preparations to commence some more postgraduate level programs viz., Development Economics, Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, Project Planning, Accounting and Finance, One Health in Tropical Infectious Diseases, Sociology, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Production & Pastoral Development and Bio-Medical Sciences in the ensuing Academic Year (2017/2018).

To make the delivery systems favorable for the employees in different organizations, the School of Graduate Studies has established an extension center at Gode town and the center is providing services in Master of Public Health (MPH), Pastoral Economic Development (PED) and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

SGS has gained a lot of experiences in providing qualitative educational services in various areas to the needy people of this area particularly and Ethiopia in general. It has become a regular feature of the School to review the existing curricula of its different programs by inviting external reviewers from various prominent universities in order to upgrade the curricula.

The School has another unique practice. It provides Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) training for its students, and organizes workshops, seminars and public lectures to enhance their knowledge.
